Air Whitsunday - Great Barrier Reef & Islands
Whitsundays
Kevin and Sue Bowe simply love the aerial views of the reef, the beaches and the national parks around the Whitsundays. Forty years ago they decided to share their love with anyone who wanted to take to the skies with them. Today they're extremely proud, not only of their dream come true, but also of their very famous discovery, Heart Reef. Air Whitsundays was responsible for discovering the most beautiful reef (from the air) in 1975, and it now it appears in almost all tourism marketing material. For your chance to see 'their' reef and to experience their love of the aerial views, join them on a journey around the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.
You've seen it in the movies, now it's your chance to experience a touchdown on water because only Air Whitsundays offers you this unique opportunity. The Panorama Tour is where you take to the air in a Cessna Caravan or De Havilland Beaver sea plane for a scenic flight over Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven Beach and 'their reef', Heart Reef. The flight is awesome, but the landing is even better. Once you've photographed the only heart shaped reef in the world, you'll touch down gracefully onto the water and bob along for a few moments before stepping out onto the float and then into the water. It's a wonderful feeling. But the wonderful experience continues, because not only have you landed on the water, you've also stepped out onto the most fine silica sand in the world, the sand of the famous Whitehaven Beach. This is where the water is clear and the sand is perfection. It's also where you'll be stopping for an opportunity to hike and see the fantastic views of Hill Inlet and Whitehaven Beach from the lookout at Tongue Point, or just to enjoy relaxing on this unique beach; an hour which also includes a mouth-watering beachside picnic. There's more to come. In addition to landing on water and the Whitehaven Beach picnic, you'll also get two hours out on the Great Barrier Reef aboard Air Whitsundays private glass bottomed boat, an excellent opportunity for coral viewing and snorkelling from its position in a sheltered lagoon.
