Description
Join us for an unforgettable walk around the Royal, gas lit streets of Westminster! Avoiding the giant crowds of the daytime, get up close with such world-famous landmarks as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Horse Guards Parade, the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street and many more...and marvel at the centuries of history this area holds. Your expert historian guide will meet you at 7:30pm by the tube exit in historic Green Park, the smallest of the eight Royal Parks in London, and lead you from there, beneath the romantic glow of the gas lamps, to the famous Buckingham Palace and Clarence House - the home of His Majesty The King. From there, we head on to the regal 16th-century St. James's Palace, home of King Henry The Eighth and Queen Elizabeth I, and walk again by gas light through the beautiful St. James's Park, to take in the breathtaking views and wildlife. Learn the history of Horse Guards Parade, from the 1500s to the present day, and stand in awe of the majestic Westminster Abbey, which has played host to sixteen Royal weddings since the year 1100, and is the final resting place of countless monarchs, historical figures and heroes. Explore Parliament Square, and stand by the ancient 11th-century Palace of Westminster - beneath the famous 'Big Ben' clock tower - to learn of the building's 900+ year history. Join us then along Whitehall (London's 'Corridor of Power') to visit Downing Street (home of the Prime Minister), the famous Cenotaph war memorial, the 17th-century Banqueting House, and the site of King Charles I's infamous 1649 public execution. Finally, join us in Trafalgar Square - by the famous fountains, the memorial to King Charles I, and stand beneath the iconic Nelson's Column to end an unforgettable tour that is a must for your next trip to London.
