Wildlife Hamilton Island
Whitsundays
Right at the heart of Hamilton Island lies one of the most popular land based attractions, Wild Life, the best wildlife park in the Whitsundays. It's the perfect place to get up close to some real Australian species.
From creepy crawlies to cuddly marsupials, Wild Life is a tranquil sanctuary for all kinds of beasts. There are snakes, lizards, koalas, kangaroos, and even a resident crocodile. Meet Freddie the talking and performing Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and Hippo the baby wombat who was hand raised by staff. Discover the park with the family, or take one of the guided Park Keeper Tours where your ranger will explain about the animals' habits, help you feed the kangaroos, or maybe wake up a wombat.
One of the highlights of any visit to the park is the opportunity to 'Cuddle a Koala'. The island is amongst only a few places in the world where you can experience cuddling up to this woolly local and have your picture taken together. Not only can you cuddle a Koala, you can also have breakfast with one too.
Start your day with a typical Aussie breakfast of juice, cereal, toast, eggs and bacon cooked on the 'barbie' (the barbeque not the doll), whilst the sleepy Koalas look on. You never know, one might pop in for a nibble! You may even get the chance to meet 'Elvis', one of the parks resident koalas who is a bit of a star. He met and had his photo taken with Oprah Winfrey, now he's almost as famous as she is.
The park is open from 7am to 5pm every day and once you've paid your entrance fee of $20 per adult and $12 per child you can enjoy unlimited entry into the park for the whole duration of your stay.
