Mr Bones Pizza Bar
Whitsundays
Mr Bones provides a much needed fresh and funky restaurant in the Whitsunday's. Named for the owner and chef's once gangly appearance Mr Bones has a clever and amusing menu that will certainly tickle your funny bone. Apologies it had to be done. With impeccable service, the standard has been set in this family friendly and family run restaurant.
With a simple but delicious menu starting with the 'early bones' breakfast menu and locals favourite the breakfast pizza with tomato, bacon, eggs, mushroom mozzarella and basil. There are some tasty options for light meals with finger foods like spicy sardines on toast and the fresh salsa tomato and white anchovy bruschetta.
It's the wood fired pizzas that everyone comes here for, with ultra fresh ingredients and some unique toppings. A popular favourite is the tomato, slow cooked mushrooms, thyme, goats curd and truffle oil. For groups there is the fantastic 'it's all too difficult just feed us!' deal with a choice of three starters and three pizzas all for just $27 per person.
There are some non pizza options with the beer battered mackerel and lunchtime special, homemade foccacia of the day, a great choice being the pulled pork. Kids are sorted here with the lovely 'baby bones' menu and you can finish off your own meal with a mouth watering dessert like the rum, vanilla, saffron and ginger poached pineapple with creamy coconut panna cotta.
You would be hard pressed to find a restaurant with better food, service and views of the lagoon in the whole of Airlie Beach. Mr Bones is a must try restaurant for anyone looking for a memorable meal that captures the essence of the area.
