Shute Harbour

Shute Harbour is a major marine point of embarkation for ferries and charter boats travelling from the mainland to the 74 Whitsunday Islands. Situated only 10 km from famous Airlie Beach, this large sheltered bay lies at the foot of the Coral Point headland and is surrounded on three sides by protective and steeply sloping woodlands.

The Harbour is abuzz with activity, drawing travellers destined for all the island resorts as well as both charter and recreational craft, fishing vessels, racing yachts. Visitors travelling by campervan or caravan can safely leave their vehicles in the Security parking facilities available at Shute Harbour and there are additional specialised spots available for boat trailers. The views over Shute Harbour from the peak of Coral Point headland are well worth the drive. Both experienced and novice photographers describe themselves as "drooling" over the vista. In the foreground Shute Harbour is stunning against a backdrop of islands, themselves silhouetted on the tranquil waters of the Whitsunday Passage.
